The Ladybird Key Word Reading Scheme is a unique set of books, compiled in England specially for giving a firm grasp on fundamental and basic knowledge in reading and writing the English Language. It is a series of 36 English Language early readers’ children’s books published by the British publishing company, Penguin Group. It is taught as English Language subject from LKG to Class V.

In the rest of the subjects, till Class VIII, textbooks of national publications are used; the school prescribes textbooks that are updated and revised as per the rapid strides made in technological advances and other social areas. The textbook prescribed by the Nagaland Board of School Education is used in Class IX and X.

The key subjects from Class I to X are English, Hindi, Mathematics, Computer & Gk, Science, Social Sciences and Physical Education.

Dictation Spelling, Handwriting & Art & craft are supplementary subjects taught from Nursery to Class V.

Transaction of curriculum is based on the four principles of teaching and learning:

  • practice-oriented transaction of syllabus
  • clarity of concept
  • prepare for higher education
  • evaluation based on understanding and application

Faculty & Pedagogy

The school employs competent faculty members qualified to accomplish the vision and mission of the institution. When determining acceptable qualifications of its faculty, the school gives primary consideration to the educational qualifications and also attaches great importance to competence, effectiveness, and capacity, including, related work experiences, professional degrees and certifications, or other demonstrated competencies and achievements that contribute to effective teaching and student learning outcomes.

Teachers make every effort towards being the facilitator of learning than messengers of the academic content.

At the early primary level (Nursery to Class II), teaching pedagogy is child centric and activity oriented using numerous teaching aids such as audio pens, Power Point, pictures, blocks and shapes, actual objects, flash cards, and story-telling.

At the primary school (Class III to V), the aim is to inculcate the foundation of knowledge in various subjects. The focus is on reading and writing, language comprehension, math, critical reasoning and inter-personal skills. Learning reinforcement is provided through worksheets in every subject, and activity based teaching.

At the Elementary & Secondary Section Class VI to VIII and Classes IX and X, an emphasis on clarity of concept of the knowledge assimilated in the foundation years is given to further strengthen the basics of the student.

For these classes, the lesson plans are structured and prepared to impart the knowledge and application in the subjects. These are supplemented with worksheets, and activities such as experiments, role play, assignments, projects and Power Point and a multitude of other knowledge enhancing media such as educational tours and skill based activities.
