A glance at the school’s history

The ladybird school was envisioned and established in the year 1969, initially in Ungma Village by our sagacious visionary leader and teacher Mr. Kilangmeren and his family. It is one of the pioneering English medium schools in Mokokchung district. The absence of good standard school within accessible distance and the desire to provide quality education prompted the setting up of the school. The school was christened as ‘Standard English School’ while it was in Ungma for a period of six years. When the school shifted to Alempang ward (erstwhile S.E. Colony) in 1975, the school was renamed to ‘Ladybird School’ a name inspired by the special academic subject taught in the school which was published from Ladybird books Ltd., England. This subject has become an inherent characteristic of the school curriculum and is taught even today.

The Budding Phase (1969-1974):

This phase is called the Budding phase because through this school many of the people started realizing the true value of education, the budding of conscious realization that – education is the key to a brighter future.

The Defining Phase (1975-2009):

This phase is called as the defining phase because during this period the school established its identity, its brand as one of the best and promising school in Mokokchung.

The Rejuvenating Phase (2010-2019):

This phase is called as the rejuvenating phase because during these years the whole school system such as infrastructure, curriculum, human resource management, academic facilities, etc has been overhauled and upgraded to a great extend.

With the lapse of time, on 12th July 2010 the need for a change of proprietorship came to pass and Mr. Aoyanger (Aonokpu village) supported by his brothers took the helm. With the change of management, systemic changes were made to upgrade and invigorate the school, focusing primarily on the curricular and infrastructural development of the school. In addition, another important aspect of the changes was the setting up of a managing board under a Chairman with 6 other members and a financial advisor to serve as a strong support system to the school. Today, with the school rejuvenated to a great extend, the school prides with sufficient and well-equipped classrooms with 24×7 CCTV surveillance, science laboratory, language lab, digital rooms, indoor shooting range, taekwondo class, sporting facilities and herbal garden etc. Along with the personalized learning experiences, the management is seeking to holistically prepare the students by proactively facilitating them to participate in various district, state and national level competitions.

Since the establishment of the school, fifty wonderful years has passed by. Today, the school stands tall with an aura of commitment and excellence, serving as an epitome of holistic education. As the school jubilates its fifty years of existence its vision is clear and the path is set to provide the best of education, embodying dreams, transcending limitations and fulfilling the needs of the time.
