An event for Class IX & X every year at the beginning of the academic session. The school organizes visit to various places of educational importance to enrich the students and to take learning beyond the four walls of the classroom. It also broadens the outlook towards the outside world and to reinforce experiential and contextual learning.

This year the educational tour lasted for 5 days including two nights journey to & from destination, that is, from 31^st January to 4^th February 2023. Altogether 37 students with six teacher guides started on the journey in two night buses – Network & Bluehill to Guwahati. Upon reaching Guwahati around seven o’clock in the morning, the entourage of teachers and students were picked up by two buses dispatched from Don Bosco Institute (DBI) where fooding, lodging and transportation was provided for the whole tour.

Day One:

February 1, 2023: Don Bosco Institute, Idyllic Ramsai Hill, Kharguli Joypur – A centre for human development, leadership and research, especially for young people of NorthEast. Our students were fortunate to be part of the institute where the trainer/resource persons in DBI conducted orientation programs and youth care programs along with engaging activities for the students on career building and socialization. The activities included goal setting session, career guidance, tour of the institute, group efficiency project and positive impact of media on the young minds.

Day Two:

February 2, 2023:

• Early Morning walk to Ramsai Hill

Visit to:

1. Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden – The excitement after entering the zoo cannot be expressed in words as the students moved around with joy to catch a glimpse of about 895 animals, birds and reptiles representing almost 113 species of animals and birds from around the world.
2. Regional Science Centre – This centre is popularly known as Science Museum. The basic purpose of this science centre is to popularize science among the people. It provides an ample forum for the students to learn science through interaction and fun games. Apart from its permanent galleries with a number of participatory exhibits on science, it imparts science education in non formal way.
3. Guwahati Planetarium –  The planetarium uses the chromos star filed projector, digital HD video projectors and the Dolby Sky theatre’s sound system to put on special shows projected on a dome shaped overhead of the night sky in the theater. The planetarium is an attempt to reach the young and scientifically inclined minds and provide them a glimpse of the wonders of the night sky and solar system. Our students witnessed the unique hybrid planetarium projected system, the first one of its kind in India to get such a system.

Day Three:

February 3, 2023

• Early morning walk to Brahmaputra Beach

Visit to:

1. Accoland Amusement Park – The first and the biggest amusement and water park in the North-East and it is open for all age group. Once we entered, there was non-stop fun. Most of the students experienced and enjoyed the variety of rides, slides and other attractions.
2. Back at the institute, the students and teachers attended the Cultural Evening Program at the Amphi Theater “Ranghar” with a seating capacity of   500 persons. The students also participated and witnessed the performance from the students of DBI. Together all of us had fun – singing and dancing; presenting and learning the diverse cultures throughout the program.

Day Four:

February 4, 2023

Last session on Leadership Training and Personality Development was conducted

On the way to the ISBT, visited shopping malls where students experienced large indoor air-conditioned buildings with escalators and with shops usually anchored by departmental stores on different floors.

The two buses departed from ISBT at half an hour past six o’clock in the evening and the entourage reached Mokokchung on the morning of February 5.

The educational tour to Guwahati was executed successfully. Students had an awesome, fun filled experience away from home and school. They learned to socialize, be responsible and adjust to new environment and people. They also learned to explore and gain first hand exposure to different places, cultures and historical sites, natural landscapes, cuisines and tradition. They learned to bond not only with peers but also with the teachers and adult who accompanied them throughout the touring trips.

A school that includes educational trips as part of curriculum provides students the immense joy of discovery and opportunity to learn various new things.
