ECO CLUB PARTICIPATION
Our school observed World Environment Day 2026 by engaging students in a hands-on activity aimed at understanding waste and its impact on the environment.
Led by the members of the Eco Club, students were first introduced to different categories of waste such as wet/biodegradable waste, dry/recyclable waste, e-waste, biomedical waste, hazardous waste, and demolition waste. They then collected waste from various areas of the school campus and worked together to sort it into the appropriate categories.
The activity helped students understand that not all waste is the same and that proper segregation is the first step towards responsible waste management. Through this exercise, they became more aware of the kinds of waste generated in their surroundings and the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling wherever possible.
The activity also helped students understand how reducing waste and adopting sustainable practices can contribute to addressing the challenges of climate change.
