INTER-HOUSE SPORTS MEET 2026

Ladybird School, Mokokchung held its Annual Inter-House Sports Meet from 25th to 27th March 2026 at Grace Garden, AlempangWard, Mokokchung. The theme for this year’s Sports Meet was “Ignite the Champion Within”

The opening ceremony began with a prayer, followed by a welcome speech by the Headmistress. The programme also included a special number, followed by the flag hoisting and oath- taking ceremony and concluded with a March Past by the four house contingents.

One of the highlights this year was the introduction of the March Past. It brought a new energy to the event, as students marched with discipline, unity and pride. It not only strengthened teamwork but also helped build confidence, coordination and respect for leadership which are values that stay with them beyond the field.

Another significant change this year was the inclusion of indoor games, held earlier on 21st March 2026 in the school auditorium. Events such as Arm Wrestling, Dart Shooting, Chess, and Carrom were conducted. The addition of indoor games made the event more inclusive, giving more students a chance to take part. It encouraged strategic thinking and allowed students with different talents to step forward, participate actively and showcase their abilities.

The outdoor events during the Sports Meet included Volleyball, Futsal, High Jump, Kho-Kho, Relay Race, Tug-of-war, Seven Stones, Chair Relay, Blowing the Cup for both boys and girls. On the first day, students from Nursery to UKG participated in fun- filled activities such as Musical Chair, Balloon Bursting and 50 m race which filled the atmosphere with joy, cheers and encouragement. Lunch was provided to all participants and staff for all three days.

The spirit of sportsmanship, enthusiasm and healthy competition was evident throughout the event. At the end of the Meet, Green House was adjudged the overall winner, combining both indoor and outdoor events, followed by Blue House, Red House and Yellow House.

Certificates and prizes were awarded to students for their outstanding performances. The Meet concluded with the Headmistress officially declaring it closed.

The Sports Meet truly lived up to the theme, as students rose to the occasion, pushing their limits and striving for excellence, igniting the champion within each one of them.
